ABOUT CAR LIGHTING REPAIR

How long should headlights last?

Even with near-perfect care, car headlights do not last forever. Bulbs burn out and wiring wears thin—and eventually, you’ll need to do some maintenance.

Thankfully, some of this work can be done at home. Good-quality bulbs should last anywhere from 18 to 24 months at a minimum—much more for certain kinds of bulbs. After they burn out, you can simply replace them yourself using the guidelines in your vehicle owner’s manual.

However, a simple bulb replacement sometimes won’t take care of the problem. That’s when you may need a qualified auto service provider to step in and help.

Once your car lighting repair is complete, we make it easy for you to keep your vehicle in top shape with these additional services:

DO YOUR LIGHTS NEED SERVICE?

If you’re noticing one or more of the following issues while driving—or when inspecting your car lights—it’s a sign that something is wrong with your car’s lighting system:

  • If one light stops working, you probably just have a burnt-out bulb. You can grab a replacement at your local auto supply store for around $10 to $30.
  • If both lights stop working, there is likely an issue with your car’s electrical system. In that case, you’ll need to reach out to a professional for help.
  • If high or low beams stop working, see if replacing the bulbs solves the problem. If not, see your auto service provider about checking the switches, relays, and other electrical components connected to your exterior lights.
  • If your lights seem dimmer than they should be, you can try a few things to correct it before calling a pro. These include cleaning your lenses or changing the bulbs. If that doesn’t work, it might be an electrical issue.

It’s important to note that, if your vehicle uses HID headlights, or you’re looking to upgrade to HID, you will need to get them installed by a professional. This is because, if not installed properly, HID headlights can temporarily blind other drivers, triggering dangerous accidents. Even if you find an after-market HID bulb, you should still consult a professional before installing it.

HOW MUCH WILL YOUR LIGHTING REPAIR COST?

  • Issues with the switches or wiring can cost between $50 and $250.
  • Issues with the headlight assembly can cost between $250 and $850.
  • If your headlights need an upgrade, the replacement service usually costs between $150 to $250.

The benefits of CAR LIGHTING REPAIR

REDUCED OVERALL COST – When you invest in repairing your headlights right away, you can prevent other issues with your vehicle, especially if the headlight problem is electrical. This, in turn, will prevent you from needing to pay for maintenance that would not have been necessary otherwise.

IMPROVED SAFETY– Underperforming or non-performing headlights and brake lights can not only be inconvenient—they can be dangerous, too! Even just having one headlight out can confuse oncoming drivers, making it hard for them to discern the size of your vehicle and potentially cause accidents.

BETTER TRAVELHigh-quality headlights can help you see better while driving, improving your visibility in darkness, fog, rain, and snow. Depending on the driving conditions, it may help you to get to your destination faster—and will most definitely help you get there safer.
